Hello guys, Just wanted to let you know that the final prototype of the RENEGADE "infinity" just landed in the USA. The production of the Renegade "infinity" will be ready by middle of February. We are going to make only 30 of them and so far we have 17 pre-booked.

Amigos kiteros, Despues de muchos problemas en nuestra bellas playas de Playa del Carmen sobre el tema del Kitesurfing, la AKQR en conjunto con varios kiteros locales trabajaron los ultimos meses en coordinacion con la ciudad de PDC y la ZOFEMAT para llegar a un acuerdo sobre un reglamento y unas zonas autorizadas para la practica del Kitesurf en esta zona de la Riviera Maya. Determinamos 4 playas en PDC donde se puede practicar este deporte y donde se puede lanzar y aterizar los kites. Esta Playas son:
*Sandos Playacar Resort/PDC Kiteboarding school *Playacar Fase 1, Condominios Xaman ha *Coco Beach *Xcalacoco.
En estas playas, la practica del kitesurf esta authorizada para los KITEROS EXPERIMENTADOS, que pueden levantar/bajar sus kites sin problema y que pueden naveguar UPWIND!!! Esta estrictamente PROHIBIDO dar clases de kitesurf en las playas de Playacar fase 1, Cocobeach y Xcalacoco. Los letreros explicando estas reglas ya se mandaron a hacer y deberian estar instalados por la ZOFEMAT en estas playas en las proximas semanas. Hoy hubo unos incidentes en playa coco beach y Xaman ha y recibimos unas llamadas de la ZOFEMAT, asi que les recordamos que esta estrictamente prohibito dar clases de kitesurf en estas playas, que estas playas estan para los kiteros experimentados que pueden naveguar upwind, que se tiene que alejar de la orilla para naveguar y que los kites se tienen que estacionar en la parte trasera de de la playa para dejar la Zona Federal Maritimo Terrestre libre.
Para la gente que necesita supervison o tomar clases, contacmos con varias escuela certificadas y autorizadas en diferentes partes de la Riviera Maya como Tulum, Playa del Carmen, Cancun o Cozumel. Porfavor de ponerse en contacto con la escuela la mas cercana!
Este reglamento ha sido creado por el bien del deporte y para que nosotros kiteros locales y turistas podemos en el futuro seguir practicando kitesurfing en nuestra hermosa ciudad!

Como parte de las celebraciones de Bicentenario de la Independencia de México, la Asociación de Propietarios, Inversionistas y Prestadores de Servicios de Playa del Carmen (APIPPC) anunció su evento gastronómico, deportivo y recreativo llamado Viva México en la Playa.
En rueda de prensa, Lenin Amaro Betancourt, presidente de APIPPC, destacó que el evento se realizará en los 800 metros de playa que comprenden del parque Fundadores a la calle 14 norte.
"Se trata de un magno evento que incluso será histórico. Tendremos actividades deportivas, culturales, familiares. Buscamos que convivan el turismo con la gente de la localidad", indicó el empresario.
De acuerdo con la información de los organizadores, durante los tres días que dure el evento se realizarán actividades como escultura en arena, voleibol, fútbol y rugby de playa, kite surfing, yoga, muestra gastronómica, entre otras. Del mismo modo se coronará a la Señorita Corazón Riviera Maya.
"Se trata de impulsar esta zona de playas y promover la Riviera Maya, pero, particularmente a Playa del Carmen, como Corazón de la Riviera Maya. Somos un destino de sol y playa y queremos desarrollar eventos e infraestructura para la gente que camine en esta área", dijo Amaro.
"Sabemos muy bien que se estima una temporada muy mala pero esperamos que venga gente de Cancún y otras ciudades del estado, incluso de Mérida", remarcó.
La inauguración del evento será el 14 de septiembre a las 10:30 de la mañana, en el restaurante y club de playa Zenzi -ubicado en la calle 10 con zona federal marítima. La clausura será el 16 de septiembre, a las nueve de la noche. Habrá ceremonia de premiación para los participantes.

Playa del Carmen Kiteboarding Areas for coming 2010/2011 Wind season. Thanks to the work of “PDC KITEBOARDING”(Sandos Playacar Kiteboarding School), the AKQR(Associacion de Kitesurfing de Quintana Roo), ZOFEMAT(Zona Federal Marítimo Terrestre) and the support and help of few local Kiteboarders, we finally could organize and rule 4 different Kitesurfing Areas on 4 different beaches in Playa del Carmen with a designated “Kiteboarding Launching Zone” where EXPERIENCED and CERTIFIED riders will be able to Launch and Land there kites in total respect to other “beach goes” and swimmers!
For beginners and non certified riders, the School of PDC Kiteboarding offers IKO (International Kiteboarding Organization) certification courses given by experienced and IKO certified Instructors at their beach location: The Sandos Playacar Resort beach. (ex Gala Resort beach). The school is the only Certified and Authorized center in Playa del Carmen.
Those 4 Kiteboarding Zone are the following: *Sandos Playacar Resort Beach/PDC Kiteboarding School *Playacar Phase 1 (Next to Xaman Ha condos) *Coco Beach, about 300m north of the Grand Coco Beach Resort *Xcalacoco
At each of those Kite Zone will be very soon installed by ZOFEMAT(in coordination with PDC Kiteboarding and the AKQR) a sign and map showing the exact “Designated Kite Area” and special rules for Kiteboarders and “beach users”.
The goal of this action is to allow the practice of this amazing sport while respecting the other water activities and other beach users!
It is very important that Kiteboarders respect those rules to be able to keep practicing our sport in the future in our hometown!!!

As every summer in the Carribean, this is "Scuba Time". Today, we had the luck of diving with a couple of Mobulas during the morning deep dive at "Los Arcos". Mobula is a genus of ray in the family Myliobatidae (eagle rays). Their appearance is similar to that of Manta rays, which are in the same family.
We offer daily Scuba Diving Excursion to the Reef and Cenotes(Cavern) as well as Discovery and Full Open Water PADI Certifications.
After one day of very strong rain from tropical storm Alex, the first one of the season for this side of Mexico, Alex gave us 4 days of amazing wind condition with an average speed of 25/30 knots(up the 35 knot on Wednesday!) lot of waves and the ocean for ourself!!! That was the perfect condition to really take advantage of the EPIC Renegade 6m!!
